Old Man Winter and Jack Frost ~ Having Fun in Canada
A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water. ~ Carl Reiner
How to survive Winter in Canada:
Took the next 3 photos today!

In the bleak midwinter Frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron,
Water like a stone; Snow had fallen
, snow on snow, Snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, Long ago. Christina G. Rossetti
And for the season it was winter, and they that know the winters
of that country know them to be sharp and violent,
and subject to cruel and fierce storms. William Bradford
The Christmas Song
(Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire) : Lyrics
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping on your nose, Yuletide carols being sung by a choir, And folks dressed up like Eskimos.
Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,
Help to make the season bright.
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.
They know that Santa’s on his way; He’s loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh. And every mother’s child is going to spy, To see if reindeer really know how to fly.
And so I’m offering this simple phrase, To kids from one to ninety-two, Although its been said many times, many ways, A very Merry Christmas to you
I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape – the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn’t show. ~Andrew Wyeth
One kind word can warm three winter months. ~Japanese Proverb
Jack Frost is a sprite-like character with roots in Viking lore. There, he is known as Jokul Frosti (“icicle frost”). In Britain and United States, Jack is a variant of Old Man Winter and is held responsible for frosty weather, for nipping the nose and toes in such weather, coloring the foliage in autumn, and leaving fernlike patterns on cold windows in winter.
but she danced into our hearts and stole away sweet autumn’s grace
filled our hearts with her sparkling face of snow and cold ice her laughter in the winds calling to us like a friend
dress up warm and come out to play ’cause nothing’s as fun as a cold winter’s day
